Re: Insurance plan 1 or 2? Help! (U.S. insurance)

Unless I'm missing something the HSA looks like a no brainer either way.  The deductible is $1,000 higher, but you get $900 deposited by your employer AND save the $1863 in premiums.  Since both plans OOP max is $3500, just go with the cheaper option.

Minimum cost of HSA plan: -$780 ($900 from employer minus $10/mo prescription)
Maximum cost of HSA plan: $2,600 ($3500 OOP max less $900 from employer)

Minimum cost of plan 2: $1,983 (premium + $10 prescr.)
Maximum cost of plan 2: $5,363 (premium + OOP max)

I'm trying to figure out if there is a theoretical sweet spot between the $1983 minimum cost of plan 2 and the $2600 maximum cost of the HSA where you could possibly be slightly better off with plan 2, but i think that's a pretty narrow window that's not worth trying to thread.

Not to mention you can deposit $2500 into the HSA for some tax savings.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
