Churning Chase Credit Cards
« on: January 14, 2017, 02:42:17 PM »
I'm looking to do some credit card churning to bring in some extra income in 2017.

I noticed that Chase has both a Chase Freedom and a Chase Freedom Unlimited card available.  Other than some minor cash back differences, they are very similar and they each offer a $150 bonus if the user spends $500 within the first 3 months.

1.  Does Chase allow a single user to open both of these cards and get the $150 bonus on each?

2.  Does Chase limit these bonuses to one bonus per household per card?

1) Yes.
2) No. Each adult in the household can get each card.

Chase does have a 5/24 rule on most of their cards, though. You can only get a new card if you've opened fewer than 5 cards, from any bank, in the last 24 months. If you plan on getting some of their other cards (Southwest, Marriott, Sapphire, etc.), you need to plan accordingly.

If you're under 5/24, I would start with the Sapphire Reserve for a 100k Ultimate Reward bonus ($1500 in travel) and then the Sapphire Preferred for a 50k point bonus (which you can transfer to the Reserve card for $750 in travel).  The 100k bonus on the Reserve has been cut to 50k points for online applications but if you apply in branch, you can still get the 100k bonus offer (until March 12, IIRC).
