Hi everyone,
I'd like to get some feedback on career advancement. Currently I work in the addictions & mental health field for a health authority. My position is something similar to a social worker (but I am not a social worker), and I make about $62k/year; and can make up to $72k/year once I get to the last step of my pay grid. My degree is in English (major) and sociology (minor).
I'm not sure I want to do this forever. I have ambitions of management, although it seems those jobs are over-worked. I either want to make the same or more money.
I'm curious what else is out there, career-wise, for someone with my background. I went back for nursing and I didn't find it was for me. I'm not terribly interested in getting a masters degree or a great deal more education.
Some things I enjoy are
- working in a collaborative team
- working with the public
- woodworking
- talking about jobs
- running groups (therapeutic, psychoeducational, recovery, etc)
Previous jobs I was interested in were:
- teacher, police officer, librarian, nurse.
Any ideas?
