What to do with old car seats?
« on: December 12, 2021, 06:48:05 AM »
Our twins have outgrown their infant seats a bit ago.  I've tried selling at yard sales and to co-workers (we're the last in our friend group to have kids).  No bites, and I get it, we would be hesitant to get from an unknown source.  Every shelter/donation say they can't take them.  I hate to throw out, they're in great shape since barely used because COVID.

Any suggestions?

Target periodically has a “Car Seat Trade-in Event”, where you can trade an old car seats for credit towards a new one. You can use them yourself, or gift them to friends.

Agreed.  Keep them to trade in for the next thing you need for the kids in the car... which would likely be booster seats?

I'm guessing you've already replaced them, so the trade-in idea won't work for you, but you can pay it forward. Offer them on NextDoor or Buy Nothing so someone else can use them for the trade-in credit. It helps to do this while someone like Target has a promotion going.

Yeah, we've already replaced them.  These ones should take them all the way to booster seats (only 2.5 now).

I was thinking about the Target trade in.  I'll see about putting up on one of those sites.
