Costco by bike, Costco hot dogs for lunch. (We don't do this terribly often. When we do, we skip the drinks.)

We picked up a pair of blackout curtain panels for Guy the messy roommate. I'm not thrilled with the all gray trend, but I think in his room, it'll work ok.

I collected a curtain rod from a Buy Nothing neighbor. No hardware, so we stopped at a large hardware store and got that.

I need to get hold of a sample of the color, but I think we may be closing in on which cellular shades to order for the other rooms. Costco has a discount this month on the ones you can order online (through a partner) and install yourself, which is perfect, because we'll be painting the various rooms as we install the blinds. A full service install would have to wait until the very end. Also, if I know how they go on and fit together, I can maybe troubleshoot.

There's some kind of efficiency rebate I need to figure out, too.

Costco for lunch is ELITE. I have gone there many of times to have a hot dog and piece of pizza for dinner or lunch. They also have good ice cream

I cut both my kids hair yesterday. My son will be 24 in a week. He has maybe paid for 10 haircuts in his life. DD is 21 and only had her hair cut 2 dozen times. And only 3 times by someone other than me.

That 35$ for the scissors and 8 dollars to sharpen them has been money well spent.

Next-door neighbor threw away a decent-looking gas grill.
I shop-vac'd out the accumulated rust flakes and used a dremel to clean the ignitor battery terminals.
Sprayed the rusty grills with canned olive oil.
Hooked up my tank.
Grilled burgers and corn for 4th of July weekend.
Posted the grill, without tank on FB for $35. Should have asked $40 or $45.
Sold it the next day.

I used the Too Good to Go app to purchase lunch for me and DD at a high-end supermarket. Spent $7 and got enough delicious healthy food to fill us both up, with food to spare.

I also called my phone company and reversed a double charge, then had then give me a $10 credit for the hassle.

Dispatched DH to Costco by car this time.

Guy-the-roommate didn't understand why we wanted to replace his ceiling light fixture. (It's old, with an open, square glass bowl hanging on with a single, aging plastic nut.) We managed to sell him on a mini ceiling fan option, marketed as a "fandelier." It's $129 in the warehouse or $149 online.

The box wasn't going to fit in our bike trailer, hence the extra car trip.

While he was there, he picked up some of the flat slabs of cardboard from between layers of products on pallets. We're using them as temporary window coverings in our east-facing bedroom window until we finish up trim and paint and decide what real blinds we want. Not stylish, but it does the job, and it's free. And we can just recycle it when we're done.

I reglazed five windows today.  I'm no pro, so I averaged about 1 1/2 hours per window.  Beats paying someone else to do it or getting replacement windows.

Used Too Good to Go to stock up on meat. Over $30 of beef and chicken for $10. We have enough meat to last us for 2-3 weeks.

Not really saving money, but potentially saving money; I went to replace my shop hose bib which requires my main water shut off at the street.
I opened the box at the street (actually a gravel road not maintained by the county) and found it completely packed with dirt (moles!), so I couldn't access the shutoff.
It took thirty minutes of careful digging (water district added a part to the meter years back that allows them to read the meter remotely, so there is that part and some loose wiring in there) to expose the shut off.
In an emergency that would have been a lot of water leaking while I frantically tried to dig out the box.

So, I discovered the Goodwill outlet store today where they sell stuff by the pound. Picked up two brand name curtain panels (currently selling on eBay for $100 per panel), beach blanket, sterilite storage box, brand new brand name faux leather tote bag (currently selling for $75 on eBay), a cloth tote that is unlabeled but that resembles Cath Kidston (similar ones currently selling on eBay for $50), and a large cushion.

I paid $20 and change.

In my city, the water main, including shutting it off and turning it back on, is specifically the city's job. We ended up calling on a Saturday one time and the guy on call came out dressed in a nice shirt and slacks because he was attending somebody's wedding that day. I kind of felt bad, but we needed it when we needed it. Fortunately, it wasn't a big or messy project. He just picked up the lid on the utility box and reached in there with a giant wrench thing.

We have a smaller, much easier to turn valve on the side of the house, which we can shut off if we need to replace a faucet or something.
