We unexpectedly received a tax return (which hasn't happened since we were in college), and after double checking a few times, we decided to use it and some other side hustle funds we had come in at the same time to pay off the last of the balance on the car. The payments processed yesterday, so I'm looking forward to the official "paid off" paperwork in a few weeks. The interest rate wasn't great on it, so we are saving interest and freeing up some cash flow in the monthly budgets for our upcoming move.
Babysat yesterday and the day before. Its easy work that I can do after getting off of work, and the extra cash will be good for building our 'moving month' savings up further. Its not my favorite thing to do...but its temporary.
Paid some bills online saving stamps and checks, sold some cuts of meat from our half a cow that we had hanging on still. We needed it gone before May, and they were the least favorite cuts...the ones you leave till last in the bottom of the freezer. My coworker was excited about them though, so a win-win for everyone.
Returned some items to goodwill after leaving the store and having buyers remorse. They weren't needed, and didn't look good in my house once I got them home!
Ate some pan fried red potatoes for brunch today. DH is out of town for a couple days and asked me this morning what I was planning on eating while he was gone (it was his impression that the fridge was pretty much empty). When I look at it, however, I see red potatoes for frying, peppers and cucumbers for salad/eating raw, a languishing box of mac n cheese, several slices of bread and lots of stocked up cheese for sandwiches, fruit for smoothies, and frozen shrimp in the freezer. Combine all that with coffee and rice from the pantry, and I don't plan on grocery shopping till he gets back ;)
