Well, we bought a house (that's not really the money savings, haha).
-Former owner had sprinklers set to run once per day for 10 min. Switched to 3 times per week for 15min. I still need to verify the water level, but considering there was moss growing in the lawn in August with their old settings... pretty sure it'll be plenty. Better for the grass anyway, deeper less frequent watering encourages a better root structure. And the town we move to charges out the nose for water (ironic, since we're on a river and live in the PNW...) so we're making moves to reduce water consumption.
-Swung by ikea when I was in Portland yesterday. A few needed items: bath mat, silverware drawer organizer, knife block, (totally not needed beautiful mirror for our mantle, ahem), drawer liner. Came to $165, and the cashier told me there was a coupon I could google for $20 off of a purchase $150 or more. Thanks cashier lady!
-My new local Buy Nothing Project group is pretty much dead. Last admin left without notice. So I'm taking up the mantle and trying to get it active again. This will save money in the long run presumably, but that isn't the motivation, but it is a nice side effect.
-Husband and I are going to be buying a reel mower. Bonus: plenty are barely used available on craigslist. Less maintenance, no gas cost, then the non-money benefits like less pollution and noise.
-T-minus 5 days until my husband and I give up drinking. Saving money isn't the goal, but will certainly be an appreciated side effect.
-Used a promo, a referral code, and a coupon to get 5 hours of house cleaning for our last place (rental) for $60. Well worth it. The guy did an incredible job. Then I went over a couple areas he didn't cover (outside mainly) and had the walk-through. I had also shampood the rugs before moving. We're getting full deposit back. And because we had already paid before we got our house offer accepted and put in notice, we will be getting 1/2 month rent back as well. Expecting a check for $2,245 within the next 30 days. Delightful.
