What money radio shows/news letters do you listen to/read
« on: August 22, 2014, 10:39:34 PM »
So what financial shows do you listen to?
How about mags, newsletters, blogs?

I like Clark Howard radio show but his advice is a rerun every show. Comentary great.
Brinker's Markettimer newsletter is awesome, but costs $$ (father forwards it to me). His show is good.
Dave Ramsey advise is pretty basic, and he's a dick to callers (basically telling people to buy his program so they go deeper into debt).
Local (central cali) show isnt bad, but they all seem to advertise their own businesses.

I need new material!
Sorry if this is a old topic

Try the Radical Personal Finance podcast.  Bonus is that they're all really long so there's a lot of material, despite not a ton of episodes (so far).

Jill Schlesinger is a CFP that does a weekly show called Jill on Money.  The podcasts are free on iTunes (181 shows and counting).  She provides very well rounded advice and takes the time to really go over each caller's situation.  I like her show.  Caveat being that she always wants people to keep working to build up more safety margin.  But that's normal outside these hallowed halls.

I read the Kiplinger Tax Newsletter.  That's the one that covers new and little known stuff about federal income taxes.  I often learn -- or am reminded of -- something valuable that I can use.  BUT I got the subscription at a huge discount.  Not sure I would lay out the full subscription price for the privilege.

I listen to the Boomer's Brain Trust on radio as well as the Ray Lucia show which is before it (at least in my area).

Regulars on the show include a pension lawyer and a couple of CFPs.  While there is some pitching of product (LTC insurance, REITS) they also give good info and advice to callers.  They do not talk about specific stocks, mutual funds or annuity products.  They talk a lot about SS strategies.
