I would like to improve my diet(somewhat) and start spending less on food. I have difficulty eating a lot at one time so I find myself wanting to snack at my desk throughout the day. Unfortunately I have a few dental issues that prevent me from eating really hard foods, like nuts, to the point that they would satisfy a craving. I don't need to eat mashed potatoes all the time or anything. I can eat nuts and things like that, it just has to be in smaller doses.
What kinds of snacks would you recommend that are tasty, relatively healthy, easy to chew and fit into a mustachian budget?

nut butters are always a good choice. In addition to the standard peanut butter there is almond, cashew, sunflower seed, and hazelnut butters. Spread on soft whole grain bread/toast or your favorite crackers. I also like to use peanut or cashew butter for a dip for apple or pear slices.

Have you tried drying fruits? You can get a cheap dehydrator or do it in the oven. Nutrious and fairly inexpensive. Also peanut butter.

You can make these granola bars without the nuts, or else just throw the nuts in the food processor with the dates to break them up for easier chewing.

I make these all the time, they're healthy and delicious.

Homemade hummus & veggies (I like red pepper slices)
Hard-boiled eggs (sometimes I do deviled eggs)
Yogurt & homemade granola

Slice dates lengthwise and stuff with almond butter, if you like sweet snacks
Homemade yogurt with fruit (or buy bulk containers of plain yogurt)
Homemade bread or pita with any kind of spread - nut butter, white bean dip, hummus
Apple slices + cheese

Second the home made hummus suggestion . . . it's easy to make, good for you, and you can get a ton of mileage out of the stuff by throwing in different seeds/beans/spices when making it.

Ants on a log.

Cottage cheese or yogurt with a little fruit.

Fruit leather. Can be homemade or store bought (Costco often sells them).

Make your own yogurt, and strain it if you like thick greek style. Add sugar, berries, nuts or other items as you like.
Cottage cheese is also supposed to be not too hard, but I have only tried (and it was easy), Ricotta, with a much, much smaller curd.
Hardboiled eggs are easy, Nut butter on a wrap with apple, etc.

Oranges. Love em always

Homemade refrigerator pickles! Spears or slices. Very easy and keep for quite awhile.
