I checked this book out of the library so many times - it's super-thorough but helped me organize and streamline my routine:
http://www.amazon.com/Home-Comforts-Science-Keeping-House/dp/0743272862#In a nutshell here's what I do:
At the end of every day: tidy up & quick wipe down as needed of kitchen and bathroom counters, sinks & faucets, stovetop, coffee table, dining table, kid's changing table, empty dishwasher and dish rack, sweep kitchen floor
Monday: damp mop hardwoods, mop kitchen floor
Tuesday: laundry
Wednesday: clean bathroom floor
Thursday: laundry, vacuum bedroom & living room
Friday: off!
Saturday: mop kitchen floor, wipe down windowsills & bedside tables, clean desk space and wipe down TV and computer + keyboard, deep clean bathroom mirror, shower, toilet & floor, clean kitchen sink & disposal w/salt & lemon
Sunday: laundry
Monthly: vacuum vent covers and air returns, wipe down baseboards & fan blades, wipe down inside and out of washer and dryer & sanitize, sweep out garage & porch, dust along ceiling for cobwebs, clean windows, clean oven
As far as cleaners go:
1. I make my own vinegar spray cleaner (just search google) for all purpose cleaning
2. Stovetop, shower and sinks are cleaned with baking soda + vinegar cleaner
3. I use Kaboom for mold/mildew
4. Sparkle is used for windows and mirrors
5. Greenworks for the turlet
In case you haven't figured it out, I'm one of those weirdos who enjoys cleaning & organizing :)
