Title: What is the best credit card to get free airfare to travel to Thailand?
Post by: meandmyfamily on September 21, 2016, 10:52:56 PM
I get overwhelmed when I look at churning a credit card to get free airfare.  We will be traveling to Thailand in the next couple years.  We are a family of 6 so airfare is brutal.  We have been once before and I would love to figure out how to get some of it free.  We have an excellent credit score.  Any suggestions?

Check out the thread on the chase reserve.  It won't get you all the way there, but two of them would help a lot

CSR is a good suggestion.  Beyond that, try to reverse engineer the trip.  What airlines fly to Thailand from your area?  Then look at Citi Thank You points transfer partners.  I think they include several asia airlines.  Also look at what alliances the airlines belong to.  You might be able to get a cc for a US based airline (e.g., Alaska or American) and transfer the points to an asian based airline.

Edited to add: To find out who flys where you want to go, use: https://www.google.com/flights/?f=0

If you haven't done any travel hacking, I'd start with the free ones like Sapphire Preferred before paying the annual fee on the Reserve (though it is worth it if you use all the benefits, might as well do the free ones first).

+1 on reverse engineering the trip.  United is decent for Asia.
