4# cheese
6# onions
2 bell peppers
5 bananas
1# snack mix, so I stop buying it at work
1# pretzels, to cut snack mix and bring down cost
2# almonds to go in breakfast oatmeal
5 tomatoes
Comet all-purpose cleaner
drain cleaner
shampoo (giving up on the whole baking-soda-instead-of-shampoo thing... works great for short hair but I don't have that anymore)

total was like $50... should last a couple weeks, but that's what I say every week haha

also $500 of stocks, which was fun

tomorrow I'm going to pick up a mini washing machine for my apartment, that'll be another $150

I bought coffee and a scone.  Total $4.50.  It was planned because of having to scope out my new contract job location.  Thought about it afterwards and thought that was dumb.

But, it will not happen again.  I repeat it will not happen again.

End of Road Trip: A tank-and-a-half of gas. Brought our own snacks for the seven-hour drive. Stopped at the grocery store on the way home and bought ten dollars worth of groceries to make a Taco Fiesta for six. Ate at home during rush hour(s) and sent the last two on the final two-hour leg of their journey well rested and well fed. It's possible to do a road trip well without eating fast food.

One head of lettuce, 88 cents.

I'm touchy about spending on the last day of the month since we do end-of-month payouts and like our numbers to add up nicely - it gived me a headache if there are credit card transactions that haven't posted by month end. That said, I really need my lettuce.

I returned some things!

And then I bought milk, kids' cough syrup and chest rub, sparkly nail polish that my daughter talked me into, and then a Hot Wheels car that my son wanted since his sister got something, sigh.  Still came out ahead though.

Nothing!

Wanted groceries but held off.  My goal was to keep the grocery budget under $180 for the month (for just me).  I had $.59 left!  Today (Oct 1) I will eat a few chick peas for breakfast while I wait for the grocery store to open!

I paid the registration fee for a career-related conference I'll be attending in a couple weeks: 40,000w (around $40 USD).

I dodged having to pay 5,000w on my prepaid cell phone because the woman I talked to at the phone store simply "extended" the minutes I currently have. I didn't know this was possible! Each month I get a text warning me that if I don't put more money on my card, everything will expire and I won't be able to make outgoing calls or texts. I had NO IDEA all of my money was simply still on the phone and extendable. Lesson learned. I hope I can continue to extend these minutes--current value 35,000w O___O

PS: Handling things like phone plans is significantly more challenging with a substantial language barrier. Take mercy on my silliness.

Nothing :) I bought $20 of petrol yesterday but nothing else. I don't expect to spend money until about Saturday or Sunday at the earliest :)
(I am not normally this awesome, I've just got lots of family stuff on so they will be feeding me, so I don't need to buy groceries, and I already have food for my work lunches in the house. I won't be socialising with friends due to family stuff and I pay rent/bills monthly so they are all already paid.)

Yesterday I bought:
My monthly subway pass for $70 (will be tax free ultimately though)
A container of blue cheese for $3.29 for salad toppings

Today I'll likely end up getting lunch at work, since I didn't bring it in.

Only really automatic payments to pay credit cards in full, retirement contribution, and donation...  Otherwise, nothing bought here on September 30th, just +$23 in my checking interest.  Nothing today either, but I think the wifey plans on getting some gas in the car.

this morning was errand running. i got refills for our soda stream machine ($30) and then i went to the thrift store because i had a spidey sense that they were gonna have some stuff i could use there (i'm woefully low on tops and keep wearing the same ones over and over again, and they are getting pilly on me). $30 later i have 2 new sweaters, 2 new blouses, a black fall coat, a gray jacket, and a super cute red corduroy skirt. all set for fall/winter!

Thrift store for half-price kid's clothing day.

4 pairs of girls jeans
1 pair of girls khaki pants
1 pair of girls cotton pants
2 girls shirts

Total?  $12

She will need no clothing until the Christmas extravaganza starts rolling in (mostly from grandmas).

Yesterday:
A hydraulic jack
Two treated 4x4s
Two bags of Quickrete
A sheet of treated 4x8 plywood
Eight treated deck boards
A few concrete blocks (but we had quite a few already)
...and a Whopper Junior meal

All except the Whopper are part of an attempt to shore up the in-laws' house, where a water heater next to a load bearing wall leaked for far too long. The Whopper was fuel for the shoring project.

Today I bought gas, and I'm guessing my husband did, too; driving to the inlaws' place two days in a row will probably have required it.

The good news is that the shoring seems to have been effective and may prevent us from buying a house before we want to. Also the house did not fall on my husband.

Tuesdays are my weekly Rotary Club luncheons so that tacks on $15 to the weekly spending. I treat this as charity money though and not restaurants in my budget.

$35.74 on groceries: chard, onions, apples, potatoes, quinoa, oats, GF hot cereal (Bob's Red Mill), garlic, dry chick peas, and coffee beans.  Since I am trying to lower my grocery bill and trying to lose weight, I have to move through a grocery store with blinders on, so that I don't see the gourmet chocolate bars, the chips, the cheese, the crackers, etc.

Not sure how comfortable I am posting specifics, but I guess it wouldn't hurt for a week or so.

Monday - nothing.
Tuesday - $170 rent
Wednesday - nothing.
Will report later on the rest of the week. We might go to the movies today, budget refills on Friday so that'll probably be grocery day. We'll see.

Here's Thursday's totals.

$17.60 Sushi restaurant. Three sushi rolls and a plate of rice for the kids to share. Came out of restaurant budget.
$7 Reject Shop. $5 for a bag of M&Ms and $2 for four pack of small Snickers, came out of entertainment budget.
$7.75 Reject Shop (wife wanted to go too). $4.75 for candy came out of the entertainment budget, and $3 for shampoo (no budget for shampoo).
$39 Cinema, tickets for two kids and two adults, came out of entertainment budget.
$12.50 Cinema, Large popcorn and coke, came out of entertainment budget.

Trying not to make too many notes (ooooh bad me...or justify a frivilous expense, or whatever), but I do want to point out that we didn't eat all the candy in one sitting. We'll save the rest for another movie (if we didn't, it'd have to come out of the grocery budget or one of our misc. budgets).
