Title: What credit card should I get?
Post by: El Gringo on May 20, 2015, 12:53:53 PM
I'm looking to get a new credit card and looking for suggestions. I currently use the SallieMae Rewards card which gives me 6% back on groceries (including box stores like Target and Walmart).

I barely ever drive, so gas station rewards don't interest me. After rent/utilities and groceries, my biggest expenses are probably restaurants and bars. I was thinking of getting the Chase Freedom card, which offers rotating 5% cash back, including one quarter per year on restaurants.

Questions:
1)Are there any good credit cards specifically for restaurants?
2) Are there any good no-fee credit cards for booking flights? It seems like most credit cards that offer good rewards for flights have an annual fee, which I don't want to bother with. Are there any good ones without an annual fee?

Check out the link in my signature.

Chase Freedom is good because this quarter (up until June 30th) there's 5% cash back for restaurants. Next quarter it'll be for gas.

You're interested in the best 'category bonuses'.  That all depends on what categories you're interested in, whether cash-back, or points based, etc.  I'd recommend starting at the Category Rewards page over at FrequentMiler:

There are other pages there - Category Rewards, and Signup Bonuses are the most interesting (IMHO).

Let us know what you end up choosing.
