What Can I Do With Unopened Contact Lenses?
« on: March 10, 2020, 03:20:06 PM »
A little background: my DH's vision prescription has been changing often the past couple years. Mostly he wears glasses, but he does like to wear contact lenses for outdoor activities. The only kind he can tolerate are the daily wear.

Now his prescription has changed again and we have about 45 unused daily wear lenses that are no good to him. Is there anywhere I can donate these?

If the box itself is unopened, you may be able to return them.

Yes, what Sibley said. If you don't already use them, check out 1800contacts and their return policy. They seem to have a pretty good policy. Also, maybe in the future, can you order less at a time?

My eye doctor said I can bring them in and they'll donate them to people with the same prescription who can't afford them.  They said they could even use them if they're past the best buy date.

Assuming that his prescription didn't change too much, he could use them, even though it's not perfect vision. That's what I do with mine.

The box is opened, so that's not an option.

It was only a 90 day supply, which was the least amount we could order.

I don't think my DH's doctor does this, but I'll check with other places. Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately it's too big a change to make that work. There was an underlying injury that was distorting his vision for a while and his prescription has changed by quite a bit.
