Wait, people don't like black jelly beans? I love all the spice ones : clove, wintergreen, cinnamon...
We've been the recipients of all sorts of neat old stuff: vintage sewing machines (treadle and 40s electric, with all the attachments), washstands, dining room sets, bedroom sets (waterfall style), antique kitchen tools, shop tools, wood tools, china, baskets of knitting needles in all sizes and materials, stashes of yarn and sewing notions, old books and lamps (I rewired), instruments, jewelry, trunks. Lots of things for the kids, too: clothes, toys, games, puzzles, more books, bunkbeds, bikes.
The oddest thing one of the kids retrieved from a pile of castoffs: a 12' pole vaulting pole. DS carried it home, carefully balanced in one hand while riding his bike.
