What accounts to use to retire early (35yrs)?
« on: April 02, 2020, 08:49:40 PM »
Hello all,

I have a question based around the "retire early" process (i.e. 30-40). A lot of people recommend using 401ks and IRAs for the tax benefits, which I completely understand...
But how are you supposed to withdraw money for early retirement from those accounts when you get punished by doing so all the way up until 60yrs old? Should I be looking at a regular brokerage account in order to work towards retiring early?

There is the idea of becoming financially independent and having F-you money, but what is the point if 10% of it can be taken from you with these accounts. Is this something I would just need to account for and save up a bit longer to endure?

Apologies if I sound very amateur with the subject, it is because I am.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

This is a really informative thread in the investor alley. There are a couple other stickys (pinned at the top of the section) that you might find helpful.
