Title: Websites to search for rentals
Post by: aceyou on February 10, 2017, 01:06:33 PM
Other than VBRO, what are some other websites to see what the going rate for rent is around the country, but also internationally?  I feel like when I look on VBRO and AirBnB, the prices for rentals internationally is likely higher than the rates that locals are likely paying.   Or if I'm wrong about that, let me know.  Thanks!

It depends on the country, of course. In the US I look at craigslist, whereas here in Canada I look at Kijiji. Where are you looking for?

Daydreaming for the most part.  My wife and I are in education, so our schedule allows some flexibility for travel.  In a few years we'll have our stache humming along, and our kids will be old enough to travel.  And then they'll get even older and we'll FIRE.  So, in the meantime, it's fun to get online sometimes and price out different places.

Some places we could see ourselves traveling in the future include:
Spain
Mexico
Central America

Rentometer is one site. Also browse your local craigslist but watch for the same places on there for an extended time, that usually means they're asking more than comparable units.

Thanks, and good advise.
