Vanguard admiral funds
« on: September 20, 2015, 02:48:02 AM »
So I am planning on doing a Roth this year as my income will be roughly 15-20k. My questions is, if I do a Roth this year at 5500, then a traditional next year at 5500 both in vtsmx, my total will then be 11000. Will it qualify for admiral, or will the Roth be stuck at higher expenses until that account passes the 10k requirement?

They are two separate accounts, so you will be in vtsmx until they both have over $10K.

I have a related question - I started my roth IRA a little later than I should have, but I am days away from crossing the 10K threshold in VTSMX.  Do I need to do some sort of transfer to VTSAX or will my investor shares become admiral shares automatically?
