Utility Power Supply Charges
« on: January 08, 2015, 08:19:39 AM »
I just received my most recent utility bill and noticed the power supply charge was almost double what it was 3 months prior. If you read, they indicate that power supply charges are based on what they pay to purchase electricity on our behalf from various energy providers, of which the most important variable is fuel cost. They list natural gas as the biggest factor. Natural gas is DOWN over the last few months. Is there something else I am missing? My provider is PSEG.

Anyone else notice this in their areas as well?

Are you choosing your own electric supplier?  I have been finding the best possible rate that usually is locked for 3 months, and then they jack it up after that.  So I have been switching every 3 months, and finding the cheapest rate.  Saved quite a bit doing this. Maybe you switched for a better rate, then forgot to get out before they jacked the price up?

They are the only supplier in my area, had them the last 3 years and this is the first I've noticed such a jump in charges. Went up almost 42%!
