Should we quit our jobs and relocate?
« on: March 14, 2021, 03:47:02 PM »
Hi All

I'm an aspiring mustachian living in London with my boyfriend. We moved there just before Covid and well, let's say Covid was a good eye-opener: we are not looking to stay in London & looking at Northern Ireland where we have family and where costs of living are more affordable.

I'm in Tech Sales. My current employer may not allow me to relocate but I will be able to find another job easily (Hopefully!)
Boyfriend can keep his current job.

We have saved enough for Northern Ireland: an emergency fund covering 6 months as well as 60K (currently looking at houses around 100K max)
So this does look like a good idea on paper : we have saved enough and even with a lower salary, we should be good.

We are slightly concerned that job opportunities won't be as good as London and that I may lose some income but as I said, living there is way cheaper and we save enough to afford a house even on minimum salary.

Any tips/Advice/things we need to consider?

Thanks everyone for reading so far

If you are in tech sales I'd think you could pretty easily find a different job.

Are there any tax considerations to be cautious of? I'm.. not an expert on that sort of thing over the pond :-)
