Any tips for selling my non-mustachian car?
« on: January 30, 2015, 04:57:30 PM »
6 months ago, my accounts were swelling so I decided to buy a used $23,000 2013 Plug In Prius, mostly for the coolness factor of its 10 mile trips that use zero gas. Unfortunately, nobody was around to punch me in the face and make me realize that the financing/insurance/depreciation would easily destroy any gas savings from the upgrade.

I'm already in the process of buying a beautiful used Prius for about $8k, but after that getting rid of this money sucking demon is a top priority. Any recommended sites/services for getting a decent price for with minimal effort?

Thanks! =D

I just sold a car on Craigslist, besides dealing with people that have a poor grasp of the English language it was fairly straightforward.   Years ago I sold a car on Ebay, but this was before Craigslist.    I had to pay an $80 fee for the listing so that ended up being kind of a bust as it sold for less than a $1000.

Unless you want to sell the car on your own you're going to have a pretty rough time recouping the full value of the car.    You take a major hit with places like Carmax or dealer trade ins.

Update: Carmax made a fantastic offer. Only 2500 bucks less than what they sold it to me for!

Thanks for the advice. I honestly didn't think they would offer me anything near what the car is worth.
