Hello community,

This is my first post here... Can anyone who is active duty / reserve / NG help me out with finding military specific resources or websites for Financial independence? For instance, I made about a $1000 dollars from my last move, and probably could've made more if I knew a couple more details about the PCS / Full PPM process.

I know the concepts don't change just because I happen to wear a uniform with fatigues instead of a suite and tie ... but there are a lot of tools such as mypay allotments and more that I would have liked to know earlier. And, I can't help but think that there is more out there.

Welcome, Torios.  I wrote the book on military financial independence with the crowdsourced help of over 50 servicemembers, vets, and families.  All of my writing revenue goes to military-friendly charities (currently Fisher House Foundation).

You could also join the Facebook group "Personal Finance for Military Service Members and Families".  We have lots more resources there, from frugal tips to advanced personal finance.  It's run by a military retiree who's also a fee-only CFP... and a good friend.

Thanks Nord! I read the book and it was very helpful. Definitely framed my decision-making for BRS and where to consider vectoring my career as far as staying on Active Duty / Guard / Reserve when I'm done with my commitment.
