Best way to acquire a car
« on: August 01, 2017, 04:46:57 PM »
Hi, I need to get a car for my commute to work.
Was wondering what the best option for getting a car is.
Leasing or buying a used car?

Thanks

Buying a used car. Leasing is almost never the right choice.

The 1/10th of your income rule is a good starting point.

Google can help you. "mmm best car"

Alternately, if you think you can get away with it -- electric bike. They are just as amazing as everyone says -- I got mine a month ago and my only regret was not having done so years ago.

What eBike did you get? Or was it DIY? If so, what batteries?

there's no where near enough information to answer this.

The "best way" depends on a lot of things you haven't told us.

For most people, the answer is a <$5k car from Craigslist.  But you've given us no details.

I got a RadWagon. Two complaints on it -- it is HEAVY. I have a 55 pound kid and the bike is in theory 75 and boy those extra 20 are a lot. I think it is mostly the shape difference, but yeah. Second complaint -- it needed a lot of love to get it tuned correctly. Both brake calipers, both derailleurs, and one of the rotors all needed adjusted.

Engaging in a TV show about retail spending? That's anti-mustacian on multiple levels!

(Free is very mustacian if available and point taken. I just had to enjoy the humor here.)
