What has your grocery cost been per month? I'd like to look into doing a diet of this type.
We spend about $300 per month now, but that also includes household items and beer, not just food.
We're just finishing up the 30 days of this diet.
We spent about $430.
Produce ~55%
Meat and eggs ~30%
(Nuts and raisins ~9%)
The few months prior to this we spent an average of somewhere around $300. But that number is a rough estimate (we're newly married and still figuring out what the budget looks like together) and was figured while we also had been using a lot of stocked up meat from sales - so suddenly needing to buy a lot of meat again coincided to increase the spendings for the month some. If you had a deep freeze so you could stock up on meat sales and spread that cost out I'm sure you could bring the spending down a bit. We also relied on nuts/raisins as a snack more than you would if you did this long term, it's a good snack but I'm sure you can reduce cost there. And we're not ending with
no food. (In fact we probably have close to another week's worth.) So you know, taking a one month sample is not as good as an average.
But we will be going back to eating other food, just with increased skill on emphasizing protein and veggies more - and new recipes to do so!
