lol I got pretty wet today too, might put my fenders back on over the weekend.
pretty much any full-coverage (i.e. 12 o'clock to 4 on the front, 9 to 3 in the back) fender with mudflaps will work. I don't know of any particularly terrible ones, and they all pretty much install the same.
nitpick: see where there are rivets through the fender? There's a metal bracket that goes across that area between the fender and the wheel. Prettier than having it on the outside, but less functional as water will follow the bracket to the outside of the fenders and dribble onto your toes instead of running all the way down and out the bottom. Much better for that bracket to be on the outside like the PDW's ykphil linked. I couldn't find any that weren't hella expensive though, so I just went with the SKS Longboards. No complaints otherwise, and I knew what I was signing up for.
The only Planet Bike product I've owned is a taillight. Plastic mount on it was garbage (broke in two days), so I'm a little leery of the brand now.
That's weird, was it a superflash? I've had mine for years and haven't had any problems. I have a spare bracket I can mail you if you want
