Third Stimulus Check Mistake
« on: March 15, 2021, 07:13:42 PM »
2019 AGI less than 150k

Married filing jointly

three kids (one is 17)

That should be $7000, right?

A notice received in the mail said it would be $3000.

Any idea why or what to do about it?

To ask a basic question:  have you already filed your 2020 taxes?

I got a confusing notice today too. It was for the amount we got for the second stimulus in January. We think it's just a late notice for that one.

Yes, I’d be surprised if IRS notices for the 3rd stimulus have already been sent out (although not entirely shocked, as I’m already amazed and impressed that people are already receiving the 3rd payments themselves).

Maluku, can you double-check the title of the letter you received. It should say something like “Your Third Economic Impact Payment”. If it in fact says second payment, then I think it is as Morning Glory describes.

This was it, LOL!  Thank you.  I did not notice the word "second."  My eyes skipped down to the dollar amount.  I feel a little silly now.  Thank you for your input.
