Mustachian car needed, but thinking big.
« on: January 25, 2018, 08:48:00 AM »
Hi,
I’m recently single. As part of the divorce, my ex gets to keep the big suv, and I keep the significantly smaller wagon. The problem is that my car doesn’t hold everyone. I’ve got six kids and my car only seats five including myself.
So I simply need to get a big mustachian vehicle. Just wondering if there are any others in this position. I’m thinking something like an old Toyota Sequoia would be good. They seem to run forever, and they’re cheap at a few thousand bucks, granted with a lot of miles. Would I be better off going this route and just driving it when I have the kids and driving my diesel Volkswagen the rest of the time?  Or should I just admit defeat, and get rid of the diesel and just have the sequoia.

Is thebsequioa a good option for my needs or is there a better choice for everyone?

The Sequoia gets pretty crappy fuel economy (13/17 mpg for the 2WD 2003 model). I think a minivan (17/23 mpg for a 2003 Sienna) would be a better choice. Or do you absolutely need eight seats instead of seven?

I'd definitely second the "minivan" comment.  They're a good solution for hauling 6 kids and an adult. :)

I’ll look into the minivan option. Those are definitely more plentiful and can be really cheap
