Title: Stuff to do in Orlando near airport w/ two young kids (3 and 2)
Post by: jeromedawg on April 05, 2019, 02:04:27 PM
Hey all,

We'll be in Orlando in mid-June for a full day before our cruise and staying close to the airport. I'm trying to avoid bringing carseats because we'd only be using them for that one day and then we'd have to haul them with us on the cruise ship. I've thought about getting a Ride Safer Delight travel vest for our 3yr old but we would have to bring our Cosco Scenera for the 2yr old and it just seems like a hassle for only doing that for one day and then having to haul and store it in our stateroom for the remainder.

The hotel has a complementary shuttle for airport drop-offs/pick-ups and also a general 2mi radius around the hotel. No carseats necessary on the shuttle.

My brother has been talking about going to Gatorland, Mini-golf and or indoor karts. The last two are out for our kids so it would have to be Gatorland if anything. Unless my parents are willing/wanting to babysit them at the hotel the whole time haha... doubt it. Is there anything close to the airport (like within 2-3 miles) that we could do with the kids?

We killed a couple preflight hours at airport lakes park.  It's just a park---swings, slide, thing to climb on.  Bonus, it does back up to a large pond with a pier where you can see crocogators for free.

I saw that on the map and looked it up. Apparently in recent months it has become a popular "cruising" site for gay men. There's a couple Yelp reviews and a Tripadvisor review warning about this and how they noticed a highly unusual amount of men hanging around in the parking lot, going in and out of bathrooms, and heading towards the trail(s) together. Sounds pretty seedy to me. When did you go?

Go to Gatorland! It’s always been my favorite - so, so many alligators! But there’s also a splash pad area and lots for little kids to do.
