Title: Starting a business mustachian-style
Post by: Mickijune on June 07, 2013, 04:08:25 PM
My husband and I were thinking about starting an estate sale business. My Grandparents have been doing it for over 30 years on the east coast so they can help us get started the right way in terms of running the sales. Any suggestions on how to start a business the smart way, ie. Mustachian-style? Thanks in advance!

Have a house that has an area that can be your office and storage - this will be cheaper than renting commercial space.

If you need commercial space try to buy the building rather than lease. If you buy, try to have rental income to help with financing.

You really should read 'The Incredible Secret Money Machine'. This is a book I read after JD Roth recommended it and it helped me apply Mustachian principles to our own business ... well, justified what we had been doing all along anyway.

I think I remember that somebody was doing that part time, and did a write up of his experiences on budgetsaresexy.com...

Awesome, thank you for the ideas! I'll have to check out 'The Incredible Secret Money Machine' and see where I can find a copy!
