Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:38:18 PM »
I'm an attorney and my all-consuming case just settled, so I'm about to take a last minute vacation before work picks up again.  I leave on Thursday for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic!  So, I'm already scoping out the airbnbs, but am wondering if any other Mustachians have been to the area and have any tips about can't-miss excursions, restaurants, etc.  I am generally planning to just relax on the beach and get groceries at the store to eat at the condo, so keeping it pretty frugal, but I still want to do a couple cheap (but safe) things while I am there.  Thanks in advance!

So I didn't live in Punta Cana, but I did live in the DR for close to a year. The biggest excursions are typically horseback riding, zip lining and possibly cave exploration or maybe snorkeling, depending where you are. Honestly I'd probably just take it easy and relax on the beach if that's what you're looking to do. Zip lines are kinda fun though; just depends what you're in the mood to do!

And Zika isn't that dangerous for adults (unless pregnant), so I don't think you'll have to worry much about it. You can by all means of course use bug spray though.

That's Zika country, right now.  Take bug spray.
