Thoughts on selling grandfathered iphone unlimited data plan

7 years of indentured servitude is finally over with AT&T. I've already switched to straight talk with my Galaxy Note and trying to get the wife to follow suit with her Iphone 4S,
She's hesitant to make the switch because she's has the unlimited data plan and sees going to an prepaid carrier as a step down in her ability to stream music and surf facebook and instagram. I've run the numbers and she uses an average of 3.5 GB a month in data, usually from driving and using Pandora.

StrightTalk is the best coverage I can get from any of the MVNO's, carriers like Ting and Virgin are out of the question since they run on the Sprint network if i'm not mistaken. Coverage in my area (Billings) is mostly ATT and Verizon.

Also i hear that people would pay a premium to get my wife's data plan, is this true and if so how do I sell it?

Any suggestions?

Really tough call for me, but it's possible they will make the decision for you in the near future -- I'm sure they want to phase it out if they can only find a way.  Right now, my employer pays the fee so it doesn't matter either way to me.  I do use a lot of data, but if I was being frugal I could easily cut back.  The alternative data plans I'm seeing in the super guide are making me much more hopeful for a competitive data market when I'm FIRE.

No idea how to sell the plan.

I pay $10 for Spotify so I can download and listen to music offline on my phone. It's cheaper than the equivalent amount of data I would use if I streamed.

I've read a couple articles on how to sell them but they seem kind of sketchy and I'm worried about an liability I may have.

Thegoblinchief...I'm going to look into Spotify, the wife listens to a lot of J-pop (she's half Japanesse) so if they have a catalog like Pandora does it might be worth making the switch. Plus it might "cure" her of her $25/ month Itune's habit.

Now I wonder if I can still use my old university email to get the $4.99 student discount?
