Just a heads up, despite getting a refund through DD in my 2018 tax return and not filing in 2019 yet, the IRS said that I don't have any information on file with them yet. I added it in the IRS site and now I will be getting a DD for the stimulus check.

Just a PSA.

Got ours today.  $3900...for once, it helps to have 3 small kids and not earn a huge salary.  Gotta love the irony of the IRS cutting me a check on April 15.  :-)

Gotta love the irony of the IRS cutting me a check on April 15.  :-)

The magnitude of these collective transactions boggles my mind.  Seems like tens-of-millions of people got deposits of $1200 - $3900 in a single day.  Likely $30B or more in funds created and deployed in a few hours.

I know that's still a drop in the bucket iin a $21T economy, but still....  hard to wrap my head around.

The IRS website says my payment was scheduled to be deposited today, but my bank's website is down - US Bank. Guess they couldn't handle the volume....

I haven't yet... :(

2018 was a great year for me... $120k+; but 2019 I should be under that $75k...

If I filed too late for 2019; will I not get the $1200?  Can I ask them to look at my 2019 not 2018?

Payment status tool is up.  They said they don’t have my info.  Which is BS because I got a refund deposited last year.  This year I opted to send them a check so could be that but everything they said implied a 2018 refund deposit would get me paid.  Just need to vent here because of course it’s petty for me to complain about the delay

Did you avail yourself of the option to provide the direct deposit info?

No when it asked for my bank info I just closed the window.  Can’t trust those IRS guys with your private info!

You should mobile deposit the check if possible and frame it - a government check with Donald "I didn't know the flu kills people" Trump's name printed on the memo line is sure to be an extremely valuable collectible some day. The value will be uuuuuge!

To put it in context SS pays out about $71B a month to 48M retirees. I don't know if they do it all on one day of the month or stagger it throughout the money.

Just looked at the account my 2019 federal tax refund was deposited in.  No stimulus check has showed up yet. When do I get worried about not getting it?
Wait until the portal is available later this week and check for yourself.

Thanks!   Fortunately I won't have to, the money just arrived.

Got mine yesterday - USAA bank. Low AGI (less than $7000 AGI for 2019) and had already filed my taxes for 2019.

If 2019 is under $75K, you can file now for 2019 and you will get the ACH deposit shortly after (if it is working according to plan). If you don't get it, you will get it back on your 2020 taxes if your 2020 income was under $75K because it is technically an advance on a 2020 tax credit.

I have a bit of a particular question:

In both 2018 and 2019 tax returns, I received a small refund.  In 2018. I inputted direct desposit info.  Just recently for the 2019 return, I accidentally submitted it before inputting DD info and received a traditional refund check.

Will the IRS use my 2018 DD info and direct deposit it, or does the lack of info on my 2019 return supersede it, leaving me waiting for a check.

What do you all think?

It turns out the IRS was not planning to direct deposit my stimulus money via direct deposit.  A quick visit to their new link fixed that:

I know this is a legit link but anyone else get super paranoid getting to the tool, triple checking it’s not some fake IRS scam site?

At least this is a real irs.gov site. Links from there to freefillableforms.com for filing, or for non filers to get stimulus payments is more paranoia inducing.

Same. Think I checked the URL at least four times to make sure it wasn't irs.go or irs.gv or something.

"Enter your name, DOB, address, and SS# to get FREE MONEY right into your bank account" is usually a pretty big red flag for a website

This is also why I hate the free annual credit check site.  It looks so made up and would be easy to create a slight variation
