We've tried it. So much debating about what's included and what's not. Not good at sticking to arbitrary limits either.
Instead, we allocate a discretionary portion of our whole budget, and then discuss our needs/wants for the month to make sure we both are happy with everything. And no quibbling over little things either, as long as we stick to the bigger discretionary budget.
We're currently at ~35-40% savings rate, but we'll make up the difference to get to our goal of 55% mostly through increasing our income.
