Short term Canadian cell service
« on: February 01, 2019, 11:50:23 AM »
Looking for mustachian Canada cell service suggestions....

Going to be spending just over a week in Canada this summer driving to Niagara Falls and then up to Montreal to stay for a week. I have Red Pocket service with Android, so no go once I leave the States for service. We plan to use wifi mostly with Hangouts but would like the ability to have phone service/google maps in case of on the road emergency. Can I buy a sim before hand and have shipped to my house or get one once we cross the border? Other suggestions? Don't need a huge amount of minutes/data. Thanks

I had a miserable time trying to buy a sim there, super expensive and then it mostly didn't work. These days I use Google Fi. Pricing when traveling is pretty good. Not sure how good the coverage will be in Canada. They have recently opened it up to more devices, but network switching only works with the fancy devices. So again, worse coverage.
