Title: Shopping for car insurance - any recommendations?
Post by: HappyCamper5 on March 05, 2019, 07:36:28 PM
Hello fellow mustachians! I am in beginning process of shopping for car insurance on my 2010 Civic. Obviously, I want to lowest price for the best coverage. I'm just under 30 and live in the western US. Any recommendations for a good company would be most helpful. Thank you!

If you have a strong track record and other products with another insurance company, check there as well. I looked at Geico and even bought a share of BRK.B expecting to switch imminently, then it turned out that for the same coverage level the existing insurance co was distinctly cheaper.

I lived in State X where State Farm was 40% (!) cheaper than Geico, and I just moved to State Y where keeping State Farm would be 50% more expensive than Geico. I think actuaries are all disorganized drunks using =RAND() in their spreadsheets to determine risk levels. Shop around a bit.
