Sending money abroad
« on: May 15, 2024, 08:33:50 AM »
I have been using wise transfer for a few years now and have not had any glitches, so far.
Are there any other similar or better alternatives for international money transfer these days?

TIA

I use OFX between USD and EUR.  All is good.

It certainly is uncomfortable sending your money into the ether the first time. Start with a small amount to prove the pathing, and it's no different to me than a domestic money transfer, now.

The last hiccup I had was around Brexit, because they were UK-based.  But it was sorted quickly, and their customer support was quite helpful.

I did use another transfer platform before, but they ended their US support.

In theory, this is the best use case for bitcoin.

I used moneygram for several years but switched to wise (was called transfer wise then) ~ 4 years ago. Have used wise regularly to send funds to DD studying abroad and to family overseas. Never had any problems and the fees are definitely much lower vs other similar services. Also very fast. Sometimes money showed up in the recipients account before I sent them an email!

Xe.com is another service that offers similar services but I’ve never used them personally.
