Bank Accounts

Currently I am with a small local credit union and though they haven't been bad they also don't offer a lot of useful integration to third parties such as mint.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for low cost or better yet free accounts to use at least for my direct deposits and paying bills. The savings isn't a huge deal since that can be transferred to accounts with other banks, but I would like a good account that will allow for third party integration to help with understanding where my money is going and managing it.

I love our credit union. You should be able to join if you decide you like what you read, just by joining Parks & Recreation :)

They work with Mint just fine. They do not yet support Apple Pay, though.

Capital One 360 and Ally are two of the big online banks

I've been using Schwab for almost 8 years now and love it. They will connect with Mint. No sizable interest to speak of, but everything I need is free, including the following:

1) electronic transfers to and from other banks
2) check deposits via their mobile app (you just take a picture)
3) all atm fees refunded, including internationally <- this is a big one, and super convenient when I need cash

I've also heard many people speak highly of Ally, so perhaps someone with an account there will share.

I'm with Pentagon Federal Credit Union (and BECU).  Both are connected to Mint.  Both are great.  I know just about anyone can join PenFed.  Not sure about BECU (originally Boeing Employee Credit Union).
