Second time going for Chase Sapphire Bonus
« on: February 17, 2025, 11:47:48 AM »
Hi all,

Curious to hear from folks who have applied for a Chase Sapphire, and earned the sign up bonus, a second (or more) time.

Chase says the signup bonus is "available to you if you do not have any Sapphire card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months."

I opened a Chase Sapphire card in October 2020 and earned the sign up bonus. I cancelled the card in fall 2021. I do not have a record of when exactly I hit the minimum spend for the bonus, but I would have to be more than 48 months past it now that we are almost through February 2025.

Long story short, I *should* be all set to apply for a new Sapphire card and earn the sign-up bonus, right?

Thank you!

Yes, you *should* be eligible.  You usually have 3 months to complete the minimum spend requirement.  If you got it in October, three months is January so you would have met the requirement on or before January 31st.  Even if I know the exact date I met a spend requirement, I always give it at least extra couple of weeks just because.

Yes, it worked for me.  I got my original card November 2019, downgraded it after a year to the Freedom Unlimited, then got a new Sapphire Preferred in November 2024.  I already got my bonus (60,000 points and $300 credit).

Thank you! This is a fairly similar timeline to me, which is good for comparison sake.
