Credit Card Churners
« on: September 04, 2018, 09:36:50 PM »
I sat down tonight to go over spread sheets and plan our next move when it comes to signing up for credit cards.  After doing some reading and getting up to date on new credit card rules it appears Chase sure isn't playing nice any more.  They now limit you to one Sapphire bonus for any Sapphire card within a 24 month period and they are also limiting you to only one personal southwest credit card and only one bonus with in a 24month period. My wife currently has a companion pass and I was planning on getting one at the beginning of the year.  We can sign up for business cards, but they still get me on the one personal card bonus for a 24 month period.  I signed up for a Southwest Plus card in 06/17.  I'd have to wait till middle of next year for the companion pass thus giving half the year away.  I'd rather wait till 2020 if that's the case.  The other flip side is this.  Not sure it's been done but what if I got a Southwest Business Card and my wife got a southwest business card also but put my rapid rewards number down...… Would they blindly dump those points into my account and thus giving me my companion pass.  I could have sworn people use to do this but they have been cracking down on everything.

We really like Chase and purposely try to watch our 5/24 just to keep a few spots open...it's easier since business cards don't count...,but if they don't want to play nice (jk)we might just burn the 5/24 bridge down to the ground and start running thru citibank, bank of america, and american express ect..

Can you please restate that in the form of a question?

:D

BoA all by itself is a great source of sign on bonuses.  I had 4 of them and killed one then transferred the credit limit from another to a 3rd in anticipation of it aging enough to use it for a tradeline card.  I never sign on for airline miles, but if you can use the companion pass right away and perhaps upgrade to business class or something, I could see that.  I like cash myself.  I don't bother with chase because they look at new cards regardless of who they're from.....and I'm sure they don't like the 18 new cards I opened last year.

I try to maximize the use of my cards.  Cash rewards in %, of course but also tradelines with cards I don't mind getting burned to the ground and low balance forgiveness currently on 8 of my cards (although 3 are currently tied up in trade lines).

Happy hunting.

Seriously!!  If that's the case Chase really will be dead to us.  Has anyone signed up for a Southwest Business CC and put someone else's rapid rewards number down to get a companion pass that way?  I think this would be our last play in my bag of tricks when it comes to Chase.

I doubt the swapped rapid rewards number would work.  I just got a United credit card and inadvertently put in DHs reward number  when applying for the card.  It immediately spit back that the name on the account didn't match mine. Oops.  In this case I had a special offer from United so I had to apply through a link in the United website so it was caught immediately.  I strongly suspect that it would have been caught later if I had applied through the Chase site.
