Title: San Juan, Puerto Rico?
Post by: mm31 on October 03, 2013, 09:58:30 PM
I might move to San Juan, Puerto Rico next year and was wondering if anyone has visited, has stayed there, or is living there. How is life like? How is housing, cost of living, etc? Thanks for your help!

I went to Puerto Rico for a week once. Beautiful place to visit, especially Old San Juan, the beaches, and the rainforest. I can't really comment on the cost of living. You'll want to learn Spanish before you move there.

Of course the obvious advantage is that you don't need a new passport. But you will definitely need to learn Spanish, I have a few customers there and their English is terrible. They only really know English so that they can order stuff from the USA.

We vacationed there a couple of years ago. As others said, definitely learn Spanish.

I went a couple years ago for a good friends wedding.  Can't say I was too impressed - though it's entirely possible that it's because we stayed in the resort area.

I would highly recommend visiting before committing to moving.

Thanks everyone. It's still up in the air, but I'm hoping to hear confirmation soon.
