Safety Spending
« on: April 20, 2018, 11:34:57 AM »
I've noticed that I've plateaued out and maybe backslid a bit on winding down frivolous spending.  Frankly, I think one of the reasons I'm holding back is because my "inner bag lady" needs the fluff to make sure we have things we can cut easily if we pull the plug right before some economic catastrophy.

Has anybody else here come up against this mentality?

You've increased spending so you can cut spending in a downturn?  That makes zero sense...

Alternatively, if you had cut too much that you were unhappy, and have increased spending so you enjoy life again, that COULD be a valid move.  The former though, no, just no, that hurts my head with it's lack of logic.

Yes, it's completely irrational, but the human brain is a funny thing that way.   I think I just recently really identified that irrational line of thinking on a conscious level.
