Title: Roth contribution history?
Post by: Gone Fishing on August 06, 2014, 08:26:24 AM
I started my Roth when I was 18, funded it for a few years, took a few years off because I didn't quite understand the rules, figured them out then started contributing again, same for the wife, unfortunetly she could not make full contributions some years due to not having enough earned income.  I moved my provider once, she has not.  Now I am looking at withdrawing contributions, but not earnings.  My records are pretty poor.  What is the best way to reconstruct contributions vs earnings?

Did you try the obvious: Asking your bank? They might know.

And are you SURE you want to take the money out? Remember that you can never put it back in. Unless it were for something super-important and preferably tax-advantaged, like buying a house, I wouldn't do it.
