Retired Senior Citizen

Hello MMMs,

My dad is a retired vet who receives both VA benefits as well as section 8 housing.  But he's on a tight budget.  Luckily his health care is very cheap or even free.

He has PTSD, COPD and many other issues so getting to him the hospital for check ups and such can be challenge.

But the biggest issue is help day to day.  My sister takes care of my elderly grandparents, I live on the east coast (he's on the west), and San Diego just doesn't have the conveniences that NYC does, like cheap grocery delivery.

I was wondering if you had any recommendations for discounts senior citizens enjoy.  Every time I've signed up or looked into discounts it ends up being either junk mail where he's not applicable or interested (zoo discount or tmobile discount), unpractical, or just downright taking advantage of elderly (cold calling for special services).

Sincerely
Thrifted

There seem to be lots of discounts on regular purchases, on particular days of the month:

Your dad may need a calendar put together to show him when he can get a discount in different stores.

The San Diego County Council on Aging has a lot of resources available. Some of them may be useful to your dad:
