We're trying to buy a house. We had our credit reports run, and they're coming back lower than they should be. We look into it. It turns out that my wife had some medical bills go to collection, and were unpaid.

This is interesting because she never got notice from the hospital, never got notice from any collection agency, and never knew about the bills until they hurt her credit. Obviously she's paid up on them NOW, but that doesn't really help the credit situation. Anyone have any experience getting something like this removed? What would we have to do to get it done?
