Title: Receiving credit card denials and offers - but they're not for us!
Post by: geekette on February 21, 2017, 10:53:41 AM
A month or so ago we got a denial letter for someone at our address, but not our name (we've lived here 24 years).  Today we got a pre-approved "CreditOne" offer for the same person.

I looked up the name on the web and while I got several hits for the name, none in my city (it's a fairly common hispanic name).

I'm uneasy, but...not my name, just my address.  Should I be concerned?

Credit one is a terrible 'imitation' of Capital one. Don't sweat it, don't apply for it. Not only is there an annual fee, but interest accrues from the date of purchase, not from a statement balance rolling into the next statement.

 I would just trash it.

For peace of mind, check your credit reports. Which you should do periodically anyway.

I keep getting these, and it turns out it's for somebody who lives st 555 North 233rd Street instead of 555 South 233rd Street as I do.

(Obviously that isn't my real address.)
