What would you do?
Choices:
- Stay in crappy work situation but sweet part time deal for 5 more years
- Switch practice groups for 3 years, which would increase work to full time and hope I don't slit my wrists with the stress but retire earlier (although no guarantee that there wouldn't be interpersonal conflict there either...)
-Quit job and... ??
Here is my situation:
38yo. Have worked as a healthcare professional for 11 years. The job is rewarding, I'm finally working a manageable number of hours (my work/life balance is perfect!), the patients are mostly delightful, and while most of my colleagues are a joy to work with, one in particular is not (one of the most senior partners), and when we wrote her a letter to address concerns about workplace harassment after a complaint from an employee, she threatened the rest of us with a lawsuit claiming racial discrimination which in my view is complete and utter nonsense. We are working with a mediation company to try and resolve some issues, but I don't hold out much hope. So that is a picture of work - mostly good, but incredibly crappy in this one area.
My financial picture: we are 79% of the way to FIRE. Another 4-5 years and we'll have it. Although if I go back to full time work, it would take about 3 years.
I need some ideas/encouragement.
