While trying to budget for our retirement expenses I had not considered healthcare costs.  Since all essential care is covered except for drugs, dental and vision costs (which I can budget for), I'm not sure if this should be a line item or not.  Can any Canadian Mustashians share their plans for healthcare in retirement?

Other than budgeting for drugs, dental, and vision as you say, my plan is just an awareness, I guess, of potential irregular but large expenses for things like private surgery/procedures. Surgery wait lists are incredibly long, where I live at least, and some people I know (healthy otherwise - can happen to anyone) that have required surgery have been paying for it themselves at private hospitals due to the 1 to 1 1/2 year wait times in the public queue. I guess I'm treating it like a condo owner has to think about potential assessments in the future.
