Question For Florida Residents
« on: May 21, 2018, 07:09:49 PM »
When you move to Florida from another state and go to the DMV to get a Florida driver's license, do you receive your new license right then and there at the DMV, or do they give you a temporary license and then have to wait for the permanent license to be sent to you in the mail?

You receive it right away. Just got mine a few month's ago. You also don't have to get it at your local DMV (i.e. in the county you live in). Make an appointment and you will be in and out within 30 mins.

You get it right then.  Just make sure you bring all of your paperwork that you'll need with you.

Welcome to FL!

You will also receive your new tag right there and then (or at least I did in my county in 2015). Be aware, though, that there is a chunky fee for a new resident tag. If I hadn't remembered the car tag # I had in FL years before so they could confirm that I wasn't new to having a tag in the state, I would have had to pay a little over $250 for the tag!
