Hi,
I have a question prompted by the article about MMM's family spending where it says you need a $600k stash in order to support $24k per year of expenses (simple calculation from the 4% withdrawal rate). So let's say you have $400k in retirement accounts (401k, IRA) and $200k in non-retirement accounts. Can you just pull $24k per year out of your non-retirement account until you hit the age limit to draw from the retirement accounts? It seems like it should work, assuming you don't end up draining the pre-retirement account all the way to zero before you hit the age limit on the retirement accounts.
