How to glue bike shoe soles (for pedal clips?)
« on: January 11, 2022, 01:39:02 PM »
I have not used my pedal clips in years, but want to start again. However, the soles of the bike shoes that have the clips are separating from the body. These are mostly plastic and quite old (purchased 2nd hand 10-15 years ago). Can I glue them back together and if so with what? Or better to modify another pair of shoes for these clips?

Brand of shoe is Northwave with "integral frame support" and velcro straps.

It doesn't look pretty, but duct tape. can work wonders in situations like this.

I've used a combo of shoe goo and zip ties to securely hold together cycling shoes for a while, but wouldn't really recommend it.  Shoes are a safety critical device . . . you don't want to be 100 miles from home and not able to pedal properly, or to have your shoe tear off when you stand up and hammer the pedals, or to have your shoe not release properly when you come to a stop light.

So unless you're really attached to these shoes for some reason, I think you might be better off to just get a new pair of shoes.  Good cycling shoes can be had for 60-70$ and will last you quite a while.
